Child Poverty Needs Assessment
Please note that this consultation has now closed
Background
Local authorities and their
partners have an important role in narrowing the gap in outcomes
for children from low-income families and their peers and in
breaking down the cycle of inter-generational poverty.
Bedford Borough Council’s commitment to this is clearly stated in a
number of key strategies.
Bedford Borough’s Poverty Task Force, which has representation from
all agencies working with children, young people and their families
(including services for vulnerable adults), is leading on raising
awareness of the impact of Child Poverty and is responsible
for producing a Child Poverty Needs Assessment and ensuring
that it is taken into account when services are provided. The Task
Force in turns reports to the Bedford Borough Partnership
(BBP) - the local strategic partnership for the area. The BBP
brings together representatives from the community, private, public
and voluntary sectors to make the Borough a better place to live,
work, visit and play.
