Paperless billing
Switching to paperless billing is a faster, more efficient and convenient option. With paperless billing you can view your bills electronically and download and print your bill if needed.
Registering for paperless billing means you will not receive a bill in the post, instead we will send you an email to tell you when a new bill has been linked to your online account for you to view. Choosing paperless billing helps us cut down printing and postage costs so we have more money to spend on other services.
You will need to register for an online account to be able to view your bills online. If you do not register when requesting paperless billing, you will need to register for an online account later.
If you already have a ‘My Council Tax account’ you will need to register for a new account using the form below.
Register for an online Council Tax account
Registering for an account is easy and takes just a few minutes. You will need an email address and your Council Tax bill. As you go through the registration process, take care to enter your details exactly as they appear on your Council Tax bill. You can use the registration process to let us know if you would like to switch to paperless billing.
At the end of the registration process, we will send you an email to activate your account. Click on the link in the email to ensure your registration is complete.

Payment options
Pay by Direct Debit
Direct Debit is the simplest and most convenient way for you to pay Council Tax, you won’t miss a payment, and you’re protected under the terms of the Direct Debit Guarantee.
To set up a Direct Debit, you’ll need your Council Tax account number (which you can find on your Council Tax bill) and your bank account number and sort code.

Pay your Council Tax online
You don’t need to register for an account to pay your Council Tax online but if you do choose to register, your Credit or Debit card details can be saved to make your next payment quicker and easier. You will also be able to view account balances as well as your payment history.
You will need your Council Tax account number to hand.
Pay your Council Tax by phone
You can pay your Council Tax by telephone, using our 24-hour payment line - 01234 718061. You will need your Council Tax account number, and your debit or credit card.
Online banking
You can pay your Council Tax by standing order, which can be set up by your bank or by using online banking.
Please allow at least five working days for the payment to reach your Council Tax account.

Post Office or Payzone outlet
You can pay by cash or debit card at a Post Office or Payzone outlet. Remember to take your Council Tax bill with you every time you pay so that the bar code can be scanned.

Pay by monthly instalments
Council Tax is normally due in 10 monthly instalments on the 7th of each month from April to January. You may pay by 12 monthly payments, from April to March, on request.
Difficulty paying your Council Tax
You should contact the Council straight away to discuss your payment options. If payment is not received by the due date we may need to take action and you may lose the right to pay by instalments or incur costly legal fees and fines.
