Bereavement Services

Bereavement Services are responsible for the management and
operation of Norse Road Cemetery and Crematorium and Foster Hill
Road Cemetery. We have responsibility for arranging
Public Health funerals (where no satisfactory arrangements are
being made). We also maintain 7 closed churchyards within the
Borough of Bedford namely:-
- St Cuthbert’s, Bedford
- St Mary’s, Bedford
- St John’s, Bedford.
- St Paul’s, Bedford.
- St Mary’s, Goldington
- St Peter De Merton, Bedford
- St Thomas A Beckett
(Clapham)
There is an office within Norse Road Cemetery where staff are
committed to providing a high quality, caring service for the
bereaved, offering impartial help, support and guidance on all
aspects of bereavement including memorialisation. Bereavement
Services are full members of The Charter for the Bereaved.
Staff at the site are always ready to give conducted tours of
the Crematorium and Cemetery. These tours can be for organizations
or individuals. We are committed to explain about all aspects of
the Cemetery and Crematorium in order for people to make informed
decisions, in particular about the types of funeral and
commemoration they want after their own death. Simply telephone the
Cemetery Office on (01234) 718150 or email crem@bedford.gov.uk to make
an appointment.
