Community Clean Ups
The Pride in Bedford team help residents and
community groups across the Borough organise clean ups which
improve the look of local areas and increases the community spirit
within an area. Pride in Bedford provide all the equipment needed
for a clean up and will remove all the litter once collected.
We are welcoming bookings for the 2012 -

Calendar April- June 2012
Attending litter
picks
If you wish to attend an event please turn up at 10am at the
specified meet up point to sign in and collect your equipment.
At all events you can earn pin badges and certificates for
attending events- these will be sent out after volunteers have
attended 4,8 and 12 events.
PLEASE NOTE THE PRIDE POINTS SCHEME FINISHED AT THE END OF
MARCH 2012.
Previous Campaigns;
Pride in Bedford was chosen as one of the Big
Tidy Up Local Authority Champions to pilot the new campaign; The
Big Tidy Up; Recycling Home and Away. This pilot campaign started
in June 2011- please click on the Big

details.
APRIL SPRING CLEAN
MONTH
April 2011 was Pride in Bedford's big spring clean
month!!
As part of our special month we held a week of litter pick
events as well as the normal saturday community litter picks and
the Royal Rivercare event at the end of the month. We also got
schools in on the month by providing them with equipment and
holding Flynn the Bin Elf assemblies.
Special Week of litter picks- Monday 18th- Thursday 21st
April

Monday was Cardington
Road and volunteers along with Tesco Staff covered the main road
and the field next to the Tesco store. In two hours the volunteers
collected 62 bags of litter along with some very unusual items
including; a broken TV set, 3 tents, 2 sleeping bags, 3 pieces of
mattress, sink, bike wheel, oil tank, 4 bicycles, 2 hub caps,
garden table top, tyre, gym weight, pieces of piping and lots
more!

Tuesday was Renhold's turn and residents
collected 7 bags of litter, broken shopping trolley, broken bbq
holder and 3 metal poles.
Wednesday covered the Hawk Drive area of
Brickhill- 5 bags of litter were collected.
Thursday's litter pick covered the roads off
Ampthill Road and 8 bags of litter were collected.

As a special thank you for volunteers that took part in events
in April, Limes Coffee Shop & Takeaway (Lime Street) gave
vouchers for free baguettes for all adult volunteers and under
16's got a free creme egg.
