Bulb planting Events

Pride in Bedford run community daffodil bulb planting events in October and November.

Each area/village is allocated approximately 450- 500 daffodil/crocus bulbs along with all the equipment needed to plant them. Areas to be planted are agreed in advance with the Pride in Bedford Team.

Some bulb planting events are also linked to litter pick events- in the past many villages have had both on the same day giving residents a choice of activity they would like to do.

2012 events

The aim was 6000 daffodil bulbs!

Most planting events took place during the October half term holiday, which was also our Make a Difference week of volunteering.

Daffodils have been planted by volunteers in Pavenham, Wootton, Chaucer Road, Oakley, Thurleigh, Melchbourne, Yelden, Cardington, Goldington and Eastcotts Road.

We also held daffodil assemblies and planted bulbs with Lakeview Lower, Brickhill Lower and Great Denham Primary Schools.

2011 events

2011 was the biggest year yet for bulb planting- and despite the hard ground conditions volunteers managed to plant all 10,000 daffodil and crocus bulbs.

The following areas had community bulb planting sessions;

Cople, Brickhill, Great Denham, Roxton, Clapham, Renhold, Wymington, Podington, Carlton, Biddenham, Turvey, Ravensden, Colmworth, Harrold and Odell.

Pride in Bedford also did some bulb planting with Livingstone, Stephenson and Springfield Lower Schools.

Some daffodil bulbs were also planted with Goldington Green Lower School through their local Street Ranger.
