Historic Building Maintenance Guide November
2010
The Historic Environment Team has produced a
Maintenance and Repair Guidance booklet for historic buildings in
Bedford Conservation Area. Rather than being a comprehensive
guide, it is intended to advise on general best practice and
contains information on general maintenance; brickwork and
stonework; timber framed buildings and structural timbers; render;
roofs; windows and doors. It also contains a list of useful
contacts and further sources of information. For a copy

Bedford Museum
The Bedford
High Street History Project was inspired by a BBC One series
broadcast in the Autumn of 2010, Turn Back Time - The
High Street. This showed how shops changed radically between
the Victorian era and the 1970's. The programme makers also invited
members of the public to investigate and record the history of
shopping in their own locality. To find out more on what has
