The Registration Service is responsible for recording all
births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships which occur in the
Registration area of Bedford Borough and for undertaking civil
marriage and civil partnership ceremonies at its offices and at
licensed venues within the area.
The proper officer for Registration Services is the Borough
Council’s Assistant Chief Executive (Governance). The Council has
decided to provide Registration Services in the Borough (the
Registration District) through a partnership with Central
Bedfordshire Council. The Superintendent Registrars and Deputy
Superintendents are employees of Bedford Borough Council.
