Waste Disposal
Any waste produced as a result of business activity is legally classified as 'controlled waste'. This definition applies equally to businesses run from home as well as those run from offices or factories.
Business owners are therefore legally responsible for making sure that their business waste is disposed of correctly. Your business can be asked at any time to produce evidence that the waste produced is being collected, treated and disposed of in accordance with the law. For further information on what to do with your waste visit NetRegs. This site has specific guidance by type of business on how to deal with your waste.
If you pay for your business waste to be collected for you, have a 'Duty of Care' to make sure that it is collected by a registered Waste Carrier. To check whether a company is registered use the Environment Agency’s Public Registers.
