Funeral Directors Clarabut and Plumbe have lent their support to Bedford Borough Council’s Pride in Bedford initiative by providing funds to buy rucksacks to help Volunteers during community clean-up days.

Clarabut and Plumbe, based at Kingsway in Bedford, have made a contribution of £1000 towards the cost of buying the rucksacks, which can be used to store equipment such as gloves, jackets and refuse bags during Pride in Bedford clean-up events.

More than 25 Pride in Bedford litter-picks have been organised in the past year alone and residents have also been encouraged to adopt and clean up part of the River Great Ouse Embankment.

Angus Willies, Manager of Clarabut and Plumbe, presented the cheque to the Mayor of Bedford Frank Branston and Bedford Borough Council’s community partnerships officer Heidi Weight at the Town Hall this week.

Clarabut and Plumbe proved their commitment to keeping Bedford clean after attaining the Gold Tidy Business Award in 2003.
