The Big Tidy Up

What is The Big Tidy Up?

Pride in Bedford would like to enlist your help to participate in the 2008 Keep Britain Tidy Clean up Campaign. Launching in September it will be Keep Britain Tidy’s first national clean up in over 8 years to encourage a public upsurge in local clean up events.

ENCAMS will be running a national advertising campaign from July which aims to get as many members of the public and established groups on board to help improve their local environment. The advertising will direct the public to a dedicated website where they will be able to find out further information on how to register and organise their own local clean up. Participants will be encouraged to log their efforts onto the website which will feature a map of England; this will indicate how many bags of rubbish have been collected throughout the clean up.

Pride in Bedford will be hosting several events throughout the campaign the first is on Saturday 6th September at Tavistock Community Centre on Princes Street, other clean ups have also been organised please click below for the clean up diary.

To raise the profile of the campaign, Pride in Bedford and staff from the Environmental Services Team donned giant litter costumes to promote the tidy up message in the Town centre on the 15th and 18th September. Pride in Bedford also visited Putnoe Lower School to help them run their own litter pick and give an assembly about the effects of litter on the environment.

How Pride in Bedford is supporting the campaign:
  • Offering rubbish collections, litter pickers and bin bags for those organising clean up events
  • Supporting events on our websites and local media advertisements
  • Assisting in the clean up days
  • Every volunteer that helps at the clean ups in September will receive a Pride Point and a free limited edition goody bag.

FREE BAGUETTE OFFER
