Surprise Guest Spotted At Bedford River Festival

A surprise guest has made a special trip to get to this year’s Bedford River Festival.
A grey seal which was spotted on Friday has been seen in the River Great Ouse in Bedford and Kempston and at Priory Country Park. The seal which would be more at home in open sea or coastal areas appears to have followed some of the boats travelling to Bedford for the festival.
The seal is tagged and the Environment Agency are currently monitoring its progress.
River Festival Event Manager Andy Pidgen said:
“The first bi-ennial River Festival was set up to commemorate the river link between Bedford and the wash. The arrival of this seal just goes to show you can still make that trip and clearly this year’s festival was too good to miss.”
