Squirrels

Sometimes people are bothered by the activities of squirrels in their gardens or houses. Squirrels are wild animals and the Council does not offer any services for the control of squirrels in gardens.

Where squirrels have entered a property, usually in the roof space, the Pest Control Officer can offer advice to the householder regarding proofing. This will involve identifying the points of entry and sealing them with wire netting or other robust material. Entry can also be discouraged by removing any potential food source or cutting back trees close to the house.

Householders and proprietors of commercial premises may obtain further advice from private contractors.
