SPORTS AWARDS 2007

Bedford Borough Council’s Sports Development Unit and Sport Bedford presented the 12th Annual Sports Awards 2007. The event was held on Monday 10th December 2007 in the Corn Exchange, Bedford.

 


The award ceremony was a huge success with a record 111 nominees. Over 320 people attended the award ceremony, ranging from UK representatives to Regional champions to local winners, but all with a common interest in sports in Bedford.

All awards were aimed at acknowledging the achievements of local sports men and women not just for ability but for being dedicated to making the experience possible and providing opportunity for others.




The winners of the awards are as follows:

Sports Club of the Year 2007 – Riverside Tennis Club
Rising Star 2007 – Natasha Isaacs (Kayaking)
Sporting School of the Year 2007 – Biddenham Upper School and Specialist Sports College
Sports Team of the Year 2007 – Grangers Hurricans (Netball)
Sports Administrator / Club Person of the Year 2007 – Mandy Brookes and Brendan McNulty (Hockey)
Sports Coach of the Year 2007 – Maggie Jackson (Netball)
Disability Sports Award 2007 – Ian Morgan (Swimming)
Junior Sports Personality of the Year 2007 – Lisle Erskine-Naylor (Football and Fencing)
Adult Sports Personality of the Year 2007 – Barbara Heathfield (Diving)
Open ‘Pride’ Award 2007 – Paula Radcliffe
