Scrutiny Committee
The Scrutiny Committee comprises 10 Members of the Council. It is primarily responsible for holding the Executive both collectively and individually to account for the decisions they take and has the power to:
- Review and scrutinise the decisions made by and performance and processes of the Executive both in relation to individual decisions and over time.
- Review and scrutinise performance in relation to the Council’s policy objectives, performance targets and/or particular service areas.
- Question Members of the Executive and Officers about their decisions, whether generally over a period of time or in relation to particular decisions, initiatives or projects.
- Make recommendations to the Executive and/or the appropriate Committee or Council arising form the outcome of the Scrutiny process
- Question and gather evidence from any person.
Members of the Executive cannot be Members of the Scrutiny Committee.
