Planning town and country

Right to Speak Scheme

You can apply to speak to the Planning Committee if you wish to object to an application. Objections must relate to the effect that the development will have on you and the local area and be confined to proper, material planning considerations. Material planning considerations can include residential amenity, highway safety and traffic, noise, disturbance and smell, design, appearance and layout, the character of the area, historic buildings, trees, the adopted planning policies of the Council, the Local Plan, the Structure Plan, and Government guidance. Non planning issues such as private property rights, the developer’s morals or motives, loss of view over other people’s land and effect on property value, cannot be taken into account.
