Policy Review and Development Committee
The Council has three Policy Review and Development Committees, each with 9 Members, covering the following areas:
- Community and Cultural Issues
- Corporate and Resource Issues
- Environmental Issues
Their role is to:-
- Assist the Council, and the Executive, in the development of its budget and policy framework by an in depth analysis of policy issues and review of service plans and performance management information for each service area of the Council they have oversight of.
- Conduct research, community and other consultation in the analysis of policy issues and possible issues
- Utilise mechanisms to encourage and enhance community participation I the work the Committees undertake.
- Question Members of the Executive and/or Committees and appropriate Officers about their views on issues and proposals affecting the area.
- Liaise with other external organisations to ensure that the interests of local people are enhanced by collaborative working
- Gather evidence from any person
- Arrange and/or oversee any Best Value Service Reviews of the areas they have overview responsibility for.
As with the Scrutiny Committee, Members of the Executive cannot also be on a Policy Review and Development Committee.
