Planning Committee
This Committee has responsibility for determining planning and related applications and for dealing with a number of miscellaneous highways matters which are not the responsibility of the Executive and where these are not dealt with by officers of the Council. The Committee also considers and makes recommendations to the Executive on planning policy.
Members wishing to sit on the Planning Committee must first complete the Council’s approved Planning training and must also comply, as necessary, with the approved Guidance for Councillors dealing with Planning Matters.
The Council operates a “right to speak” scheme which enables members of the public to speak directly to Councillors at meetings of the Planning Committee if they have objections to any application when it first appears on a Planning Committee agenda.
More information about the Planning Committee generally, how the right to speak scheme operates and what you need to do to speak at a Committee meeting can be found on the related pages listed below.
