BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL RECEIVES INVESTORS IN PEOPLE AWARD
Staff training at Bedford Borough Council has been given the official seal of approval. The prestigious Investors in People award was presented to the Council on 17th April 1998.
The award recognises the high standard the Council has set itself for internal communication and training. In a ceremony at the Town Hall on Friday 17th April, local MP Patrick Hall, MEP Eryl McNally and Bedfordshire TEC Director Richard Lacey presented the award to Council Chief Executive, Mr Laurie Gould and the Mayor, Cllr. Frank Garrick.
Richard Lacey, Bedfordshire TEC Director said, "This is what I call a win – win – win situation. It’s good not only for the employees and the organisation but also for all the many customers of Bedford Borough Council."
Laurie Gould said, "The Council took the decision to pursue Investors in People status because of our commitment to achieving high standards of training for all staff. Not only does IIP help individuals achieve their personal goals it is also good for the Council as a whole."
Bedford Borough Council is only the third local authority in the UK to receive Investors in People status across its entire range of services.
As a consequence the distinctive Investors in People logo will be displayed not only at the Town Hall but also at the Tourist Information Centre, Bedford Museum and the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery.
