General Licensing Committee

The General Licensing Committee is responsible for all of the Council’s Licensing functions except those under the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2005. The licences it is responsible for include Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle and Driver Licences, Private Hire Operators Licences, Street and House to House Collections and Pet Shop Licences.

A four Member General Licensing Sub-Committee has responsibility for determining applications which have to be referred to Members.

Members wishing to serve on the Licensing Committee must complete the Council’s approved training on licensing before they can be appointed to sit on the Committee and must follow the Council’s Guidance for Members dealing with Licensing Matters.
