European Elections
To elect members of the European Parliament. This parliament has members elected from across Europe, including the UK. It is based in Brussels and passes regulations and directives that affect everyone in the European Union (EU) from the north of Scotland to the south of Italy and from the borders of Russia to the Atlantic Ocean. It deals with issues such as the environment, human rights, consumer rights and economic development.
These elections are held once every five years. Bedford Borough comes under the Eastern Region. There are seven Members of the European Parliament (MEP’s) in this region.
