Regular Specail Olympic swimmers Anthony Mclennan, Rebecca Lumbers, Luke Middleditch and Steven Bolger all made such an effort on the day that they were disqualified for going too fast in some of their time-banded races.  Despite this Anthony, Rebecca and Steven went on the achieve medals for their other individual events and Luke went home proud of his 'speeding ticket' certificate!

Newcomers to the Special Olympics Jeff Jones, Chris Scott and Jamie Young all preformed extremely well, despite some understandable nerves, and all went home with medals.  Jeff took silver in the 25m freestyle, Chris won gold and silver in the 50m and 25m freestyle events respectively and Jamie achieved bronze for the 25m freestyle and gold for 25m breaststroke.

The woman's relay team swam well in the 4 x 25m relay event to achieve broze medals for its memebers  Sharon Houchen, Rosaleen Murphy, Rebecca Cowley and Rebecca Lumbers.  Emily Entwistle stood in for missing memeber of the St Albans realy team and helps to beat her own team into third place by taking htesilver.

Other experienced Special Olympic swimmers Richard Crabbe, Edward Crabbe, Johnathon Mclennan and Graham Langridge also swam well in their both individual and realy event and helped Marlins take home a total of 14 gold, 7 silver and 9 bronze medals.

Beryl Mclennan, Team Manager, said "Once again our swimmers have done us proud.  They all behaved professionally on the night and it was obvious that they all put the utmost effort into swimming their best.  There were some performances to be proud of but next time we'll make sure Emily is swimming for our side!"
