Digging, Planting and Weeding For Victory

With just a week to go before judging the team behind Bedford in Bloom are calling for everyone to get involved to help Bedford Go For Gold in this years Anglia in Bloom Competition.
Bedford in Bloom is the town’s entry into the regional Anglia in Bloom competition. A number of local businesses, organisations and residents have been working together since 2006 on environmental improvement schemes such as community allotments, new gardens, education and energy efficiency projects that go to make up Bedford’s entry.
Last year Bedford won a Silver Gilt Award. On top of this Hill Rise Nature Reserve, Bedford Park, The Embankment Gardens and Castle Mound, all received nominations for special category awards, given only to the top five entries in the whole of the Anglia region.
This year the hope is that we can go one better with many local groups getting involved. Derek Jones from Bedford in Bloom commented, “With your help we can show not just the Judges but everyone visiting the River Festival just how much Bedford Blooms.”
Judging takes place on Wednesday July 9th with the judges keen to see how everyone has got involved to get Bedford Blooming this summer. They will be visiting key sites around the town and are keen to see exciting community projects.
