Councillors Code of Conduct

Complaints about Breaches of the Councillors' Code of Conduct

With effect from 8 May 2008, responsibility for considering complaints that a Member of Bedford Borough Council or a Member of any of the Town or Parish Councils in the Borough area have breached their Council’s Code of Conduct, has been transferred from the Standards Board for England to Bedford Borough Council’s Standards Committee.

The Standards Committee can only deal with complaints about the behaviour of a member. It cannot deal with complaints that are about incidents or actions that are not covered by the Code of Conduct, a fault in the way in which the Borough or a Parish Council has or has not done something, the way in which it conducts or records its meetings, or complaints about Council employees or contractors.
