Benefit Fraud costs the Taxpayer £2 billion every year - this works out to be around £80 for each taxpayer - this is your money. Bedford Borough Council spends around £36 million on benefits each year - unfortunately some of that is claimed fraudulently.
However Bedford Borough Council are committed to reducing the level of fraudulent claims and have a dedicated, well trained and professional team to deal with such cases. Much of their work is in response to information provided by you - the public.
