Bedford To Celebrate Olympic Games Handover

A free family fun day and flag raising ceremony at Bedford International Athletic Stadium is set to mark the hand over of the Olympic Flag to the United Kingdom on Sunday 24th August.
With the Beijing Olympic Games drawing to a close the Olympic Flag will be handed over to London and the United Kingdom in readiness for 2012. The Mayor of Beijing will hand the Olympic Flag to the Mayor of London as part of the Beijing Olympic Games Closing Ceremony.
Bedford International Athletic Stadium will be one of hundreds of venues in towns and cities across the U.K. that will be marking the occasion by raising the specially designed 2012 Olympic Flag.
The stadium will also have an open day to allow everyone to come and see the venue for free! There will be various activities and fun and games throughout the day, with an official opening and closing ceremony to coincide with the handover in Beijing. It is hoped there will be some local personalities also attending!
Events happening at the Stadium on the day include:
- Opportunities to have a go at various events
- Mini Olympic events
- Dance displays
- Marching band
- BBQ and much more
