Pension Credits

The Pension Credit scheme was introduced on the 6th October 2003. The new scheme was introduced to ensure a minimum guaranteed income for people of pensionable age. You can find full details of the relevant minimum incomes in the "Applicable Amounts" document in the "How is benefit calculated?" section of this website.

The scheme was set up to:

  • Reward people who have modest savings
  • Significantly increase the number of pensioners who receive additional financial help
The Pension Service will be coming to the Town Hall every Wednesday between 9am and 12pm. Come along to have a calculation to see whether you are entitled to the Pension Credit.

For more information about the Pension Credit scheme visit the Pension Service website at: www.thepensionservice.gov.uk.
