Public Participation in Meetings

Bedford Borough council is committed to ensuring that it's services, including Council meetings, are available to everyone in the community. To enable us to assess whether this is the case and any action we need to take to improve access to meetings we would be grateful if you would spare a few minutes of your time to complete this simple survey. The survey is available online by clicking here.

Allocations and Designations Plan

The Council has begun work on a Development Plan Document, the Allocations and Designations Plan. This plan will allocate sites to mmet the Borough's future development needs and designate areas of land where specific policies will apply. The issues and options for this plan have been published for consultation, along with the Sustainablility Appraisal of the identified options. We are not asking you to suggest sites at this stage; this will be done through a seperate consultation later this year.

Street Trading

On 13th July 2008, Bedford Borough Council published a notice in the Bedfordshire on Sunday newspaper listing streets within the Borough relating to street trading regulations. The notice details what is intended to be a complete list of streets within the Borough and the designation of those streets as 'consent streets'. In terms of street trading, this would mean that anybody wishing to trade within those streets would have to seek authorisation from the Borough Council as Licensing Authority to do so. Below is a copy of the notice as it appears in the newspaper, divided by page into two separate documents, and a 'frequently asked questions' sheet for further information.
